Welcome

According to The Danish Mental Health Fund, every other family has experienced mental illness at close quarters. About every fifth Dane will at some point suffer from mental disorders, be it mild depression, psychotic illnesses or anywhere in between.

The aim of psykisksårbar.dk ('mentally vulnerable') is to establish a higher level of openness and a safe place for dialogue, a place where people with mental illnesses, relatives, and others who are involved in the area can share their experiences, thoughts, advice, and wishes.

It is my hope that our discussions here at psykisksårbar.dk will cause debate in homes, at workplaces and with politicians who have a responsibility for creating better conditions in the psychiatric field and for changing the attitude toward being mentally vulnerable and toward being related to someone who is mentally vulnerable. The goal with our debate is that everyone can make themselves heard. On this site, we say no to myths, stigma, and taboos – and yes to open and honest discussion.

So far, psykisksårbar is only in Danish, but it is possible to create a group where discussion will be in English or other languages. Links to groups

It is also possible to follow what is being written in Danish and to read the information on the site if you use Google Translate, which allows you to translate Danish to a number of other languages. Read more here.

You can also use Google Toolbar to translate the pages. Read more here.

We hope that we will succeed in getting support for the translation of psykisksårbar.dk into other languages.

With kind regards
